Hotels We Love: Entourage sur-le-Lac

The Best Family-Friendly Hotel in Quebec

We intended it as a jumping off point to explore Quebec City, a mere 20-minutes away, but from the moment you enter the lobby of Entourage sur-le-Lac, plans & stress melt away. Luxurious modern décor frame a panoramic view of the serene lake. I was already dreaming of how to return from the moment we stepped inside.

With lakeside activities for every member of the family, it’s like a French-Canadian Kellermans minus the dirty dancing.

A cheery “Bonjour!” welcomes us to the resort which seamlessly switches to English after I clumsily reveal the extent of my French. Our Lakeview Room has a gorgeous view, king bed, a sitting area with couch and a surprising amount of kitchen amenities. The balcony is perfect to enjoy a morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail, especially while a little one naps. While some balconies share with another room, it wasn’t an issue for us.

What-to-do // The family-fun factor

While there’s no shortage of serenity, the resort also comes alive with amenities. Kayaks, paddle boards and life jackets are free and a lovely way to watch the sun fade behind the trees or greet the morning. The shallow waters of the beach are perfect for kiddos swimming or wading out to the giant raft. Oh, and there’s a pool. So basically >> beach – pool – kayak – hot tub and repeat.

It’s a rarity that a hotel comes together with points for everyone, but this is where Entourage sur-le-Lac exceeded our expectations. My husband was stoked to see free fat bikes and took a 2 hour ride around the lake. I joined the free lakeside yoga class. In French. As previously mention, je ne parle pas francais, which made it all the more adventurous. I got a serious case of the giggles halfway through the class.

Ahhh, to be so relaxed you feel the joy of giggling to yourself amidst kind strangers in a French downward dog.

And then three magic words: Free Child Care [mic drop]. The hotel has a Kids Club where you can freely play with your littles or drop them off while you have a cocktail or meal on premise. While it is supervised, our six year old was a little nervous to stay by himself, but I imagine if (when) we go back, he’ll be fine.

Some hotels are a destination of their own. This is one. We basically forgot to go to Quebec City so we kind of have to come back. And maybe next we’ll actually want to leave the hotel. Maybe.

Travel Tips

Our room had a mini-fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave and dishware. Stop at the Lac Beauport IGA grocery store down the street and stock up on a few goodies. We bought Nespresso coffee pods, breakfast items, a charcuterie lunch and champagne! Get there by: Car.
