What to Pack for a Ski Trip // Looking Cute Off the Slopes

It’s easy to be a minimalist traveler when you’re headed to a sunny destination, but a cold and snowy vacation? Not so much. Bulky sweaters and big boots can take up an entire carry-on. So what to pack for a weekend ski trip or cold-weather destination off the slopes? Check out our tried and true tips.

What Clothes to Pack

ONE. A pair of thick black leggings are super versatile on a ski getaway. This is where those pricey Lululemons are worth it. The heavy-weight fabric keeps your legs warm whether you’re ice skating or sitting by the fire.

TWO. Two sweaters // One super-comfy, warm every day sweater that you can throw on whenever. Think wool blends in neutral colors like grey and black that don’t scream I wore this yesterday. Choose a second sweater that you can dress up for an evening out, opt for a less bulky style like super-soft cashmere.

THREE. A versatile scarf can be your best friend on a winter getaway. Opt for a heavier weight one that you can wrap around your neck or shoulders for extra warmth. Make sure it matches pretty much everything in your suitcase.

FOUR. Picking out shoes and boots can be tough on a ski trip, they can easily fill up an entire suitcase. To keep it light, I pack my black L.L. Bean suede boots that can be dressed up for evening yet are comfortable enough for light hiking or exploring the village. Unless you’re going to workout indoors, leave the sneakers.

ETC:

Sunscreen // Yes, you can get sunburned on the slopes on a cold, sunny day. Been there, done that. Don’t forget the sunscreen.
